Björk, the multi-Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, composer, producer and actress, illuminates a new and bold cinematic vision of our future Earth and her beings.

LF TEAM POV

The Level Forward Team loves breaking new ground, and we believe that Cornucopia can do that in multiple ways through the sheer ingenuity of Bjork's imagination, her commitment to creative excellence in the execution, her position as the quintessential artist's artist, her ambitions for social change, and the genre busting nature of this film.

Part concert film, part advocacy, part immersive narrative adventure, Cornucopia will satisfy demand for music documentaries as well as the need to push the medium forward. We are particularly excited about immersive exhibition and engagement opportunities via distributors such as IMAX and even, the Sphere.

Sales inquiries have been incoming but we think a Cannes premiere could provide the film with the greatest exposure and value towards a sale and support for the larger impact plan.

SYNOPSIS

Poetic, majestic, ethereal, CORNUCOPIA is part "digital theater," part "sci-fi pop concert," all parts embodying the multi-disciplinary artist Björk, at her very best.

The film is a unique experience, an optimistic proposal on how the world can deal with climate change, and also a spectacular, spellbinding rollercoaster ride for all sensations; visual, sonic or other.

Björk’s vision is a future where plants, birds and humans will merge into a new coexistence that the film captures with grace and elegance in a psychedelic tale about the environment; utilizing a staged concert of live musical arrangements, digital technology, and majestic visuals.

The show includes a 50-person choir, a collection of seven flutists, a harpist, percussionist, electric musicians and of course, the bold and iconic Björk, all of whom move about on multilevel structures that resemble mushrooms, sea anemones, or otherworldly species.

CORNUCOPIA is cinema, both artful and punk-rock, otherworldly and grounded; a visual feast, filled with Valkyrian fury and and Björk’s uninhibited imagination.

IMPACT STRATEGY

This film was born from necessity:  Björk's awareness that a 50 city world tour would emit over 3,500 metric carbon tons from the driving, shipping and flying a Broadway+++ size set and show around the world. With a clear commitment to walk the talk, Björk told her team of managers, agents, and producers that she would cancel approximately 75% of the tour, leaving $20mm+ on the table, to minimize her environmental footprint. In lieu of the tour, she would make a film. This is when Level Forward got the call.

With  Björk's choice as a model, we believe we can galvanize a movement of likeminded artists to not only follow Björk's lead, but to coalesce around a commitment to film more, tour less, and engage distributors in the opportunity to support more films that make access worldwide and efficient. This would not only reduce the environmental impact, but it could also allow artists to tour with smaller sets and lower priced tickets, as their revenue would be supported by streaming fees for the advance purchase of streaming rights to their concert films. A business unto itself!

Björk has already engaged Thom Yorke of Radiohead, and LF is engaging Mitski. Imagine where we can go from here, Swifties and Queen Beys.
