Heading
It’s 1913 and the women’s movement is heating up in America, anchored by the suffragists—“Suffs,” as they call themselves—and their relentless pursuit of the right to vote. This “remarkable, epic new musical” (Variety), boldly explores the victories and failures of a struggle for equality that’s far from over.
LF TEAM POV
We're excited, can you tell? Finally, a musical that says what needs to be spoken, and reveals the tireless work of women who built upon the foundation of women before them, and on whose shoulders our company sits! Following a sold-out, extended run at The Public Theater, SUFFS arrives on Broadway this spring.
Birthed from the singular mind of multi-hyphenate talent Shaina Taub, this “remarkable, epic new musical” (Variety), boldly explores the victories and failures of a struggle for women's equality that—AS WE KNOW—is far from over. Fittingly, the production is led by Taub, the most singular creative talent on Broadway since Lin Manuel-Miranda.
The musical takes place in 1913, as the women’s movement is heating up in America, anchored by the “Suffs” and their relentless pursuit of the right to vote. Reaching across and against generational, racial, and class divides, these brilliant, flawed, and fundamentally human women entertain and inspire us with the story of their hard-won victory in the ongoing struggle for equality.
So much has changed since the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment over a century ago, and yet we’re reminded sometimes we need to look back, in order to march fearlessly into the future. Let's march in song to Times Square to stand this musical up for generations to come.

IMPACT STRATEGY
We will be working with the team to expand the conversation, welcome many communities and stakeholders into the ever-widening tent of equality, hold More To Talk About sessions, publish a discussion guide and curriculum, and more. Taub, herself, is emblematic of the possibilities when expectations are not limited by institutions. We want to lean into generations of Shaina Taubs to come, equipping and inspiring them to create!
